The Warriors ~~ Jon Anderson 1964!

The Warriors aka The Electric Warriors

David Foster (Badger) Bass Guitar and Harmonies

Jon Anderson (YES) Harmony Vocals

Tony Anderson (Los Bravos) Lead Vocal and Harmonica

Ian Wallace (King Crimson) Drums

Rod Hill Guitar

Mike Brereton Guitar

Formed in 1962 The Warriors went through different line up's until the most successful was achieved in '64, this being David Foster, Ian Wallace, Rod Hill, Mike Brereton, Jon Anderson and Tony Anderson.

In their early days the band played the working men's club's, sporting clubs and small halls and club's in and around the Lancashire area eventually moving up to bigger rock venue's such as The Cavern, Liverpool, Oasis Manchester and the Mecca Ballroom circuit.

Decca Records signed the band in early '64 and The Warriors cut their single You Came Along b/w Don't Make Me Blue, the latter being David Foster's first recorded song. They appeared in a feature film called Just For You and made television appearances on ATV'S Thank Your Lucky Stars and BBC'S Juke Box Jury.

They then toured Britain extensively for the next year being managed by the owners of The Beachcomber Club's where they often appeared. Tony Anderson and Mike Brereton left the Warriors in late '65 leaving Jon and David on vocals and introducing Brian Chatton on keyboards.

This was to be the last incarnation of The Warriors. After touring Europe's Cellar Club's (Top Ten, Hamburg, Storyville Clubs, Cologne and Frankfurt, Carousel Club, Copenhagen etc) they split up in Frankfurt Germany in August '67 shagged out after a long squawk.

Jon Anderson - take your time

 ~~ random best ~~

Jon Anderson - take your time (1980)

from the album: Song of Seven

Rushing here and there, I'm told to slow down
Just relax, take your time, don't move fast, so fast
Tempers in the air, I'm told to slow down, ease back
By the fire, feel free, feel free
People pushing by and why
I don't mind, take my time, there's no race
Life is fine, life is fine
Come and take my hand and we'll be in a dream
Just relax, there's no rush, take your time
Take your time

Worries on your mind, always try to find happiness
Looking everywhere, life is but a care
Love will come always to you
Rushing here and there, I'm told
To slow down, just relax, take your time, don't move fast so fast
Tempers in the air, I'm told to slow down
Ease back by the fire, feel free, feel free

People pushing by and why
I don't mind, take my time, there's no race
Life is fine, life is fine
Come and take my hand and we'll be in a dream
Just relax, there's no rush, take your time
Take your time

Jon Anderson - incoming

  ~~ random best ~~

Jon Anderson - incoming (2010)
from his album: survival & other stories

They come in sacred ways before the sunlight
They come through sacred worlds in stories full of real life
They come in sacred moves that send them flying over you
They come in sacred moves and purpose slowly take like fire like too

With every mountain they invite the sacred song
Within the very lore of being now, now...
So full of wisdom so descend upon this mantra life

They come in sacred moves that turn around and touch you closely
They turn the sacred way the thought is of the first time knowing

So reach out when they are calling
Take the time to even notice they are part of you
For the finding of the secret you can always rediscover it true...

They come in moonlight all the more because they like to
Soon, soon, soon, soon, soon, soon, soon, soon, soon, soon, soon, soon, soon...

Of all the takes and dances of the bitter stone
Of all the fixes and corruption we are ever to see
How the bridge now delivers, the breaking of man
All ever to the sinner life ever total time

Take a drink from this better life
Take a drink from this better life
Better by far...

They call it seeing of the children's life thirst for love
They call it take away the children's fear of life
Call it 'this time' first time, changing the signs
They call it seeing the children for the very first time
Call it 'that, that river of eternal bliss'
Call it quintessential time
Call it 'everything is light'
Call it this time, this time...

Discovery of the silver moonlight turning too
Discovery of the days of happening through to you
Discovery of the days of happening close to you
Discover all the things are coming coming round
They call it days of wonder
They call it every day is calling calling round

They call it 'children of the diamond life'
For giving us light
Forever changing our design
Forever to be sung
For all we see, for all the savior, they're calling us
Sent us giving love, sent us giving love...

It's coming now, it's coming, it's coming now...
It's coming now, it's coming now...

Save love, save love, given to us,
Save love, save love, given to us
Save love. Save love...

Discovery of the reason of it all
Discovery of the reason of it all

Yeah yeah,
Who do you believe in giving?

Jon Anderson - midnight dancing

   ~~ random best ~~

# 984

Jon Anderson - midnight dancing (1994)
From the 'Deseo' album 1994.

Guest vocals by Valentina Vargas

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentina_Vargas

lyrics:

Riding in this car on the ~~ highway of love
Simply Looking for a place to dance the night
She smiled at me and said: "Which way do you wanna go now?"
I said: "It could be this way... It could be that"
"Come in to my room"
"You can dance with my tune"
"You can dance with my body"
"You can dance with my love"
"You can dance in these arms"
"You can dance with my life"
"You can dance with each rhythm above you"

She said...
"S—lo quiero tu amor" (I just want your love)
"S—lo amantes saben como vivi" (Only lovers know how I lived)
"Completamente libre" (Completely free)
"Bailando entre sue–os enamorados" (Dancing between loved dreams)
"Pensando en esse amor se puede so–ar" (Thinking of that love, one can dream)
"Revivir, revivir" (To relive,to relive)
"Ven conmigo esta noche" (Come with me tonight)
"A bailar, a bailar" (To dance... to dance...)
"Ven a bailar..." (Come to dance...)

"Come dance with me" she said

So we went into the rhythm of piano conversation
And in the corner was this man singing to his friends
She took me by the hand...
Said "This is the way... this is the way to paradise!"
"Just dance with me... I'll bring you higher... higher..."
"To be true, to be right..."
"This is the play... the place you love..."
"the is the drama within you... they call it Midnight Dancing"

    Jon Anderson - 60's career-recordings-collaborations

    (updated nov.12, 2012)

With thanks to all possible sources on the internet I try to complete all of Jon's work.

                                            Jon Anderson's 60's

from Little John's Skiffle Group/The Warriors/The Gun/The Open Mind/Mabel Greer's Toyshop to the start of the 'classical' Yes period.

Jon Anderson was born John Roy Anderson in Accrington, Lancashire, England, to Albert and Kathleen Anderson. His father was from Scotland whilst his mother was of Irish ancestry. Anderson dropped the "h" from his first name in 1970.

His musical career began at school, The St. John's Infants School in Baxenden, Accrington. There he made a tentative start to a musical career playing the washboard in "Little John's Skiffle Group", which played songs by Lonnie Donegan, among others. Anderson left school at the age of fifteen and went through a series of jobs including farm hand, lorry driver and milkman. Anderson tried to pursue a football career at Accrington Stanley F.C. but five foot five inch Jon was turned down because of his frail constitution. He remains a fan of the club.

which had previously included guitarist Peter Banks.
    - 1969          Anderson, Squire and Banks went on to form Yes with drummer Bill Bruford
and keyboardist Tony Kaye. Their debut album was released in 1969.

Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow

In 1975, Yes took a break to rest from touring and each member of the band got in the production of a solo album. Jon Anderson locked himself into his personal home garage studio surrounded by synthesizers, drums, Irish harp, guitars and a collection of percussion instruments. In the album, Jon Anderson played more than 20 instruments and wrote, arranged and played all of the music himself.
With his first solo album Jon Anderson created a masterpiece of progressive music. „Olias of Sunhillow“ has been considered one of the most innovative albums from the 70’s for creating a unique fusion of electronic music, ethnic music, classical music, progressive music, and folk. Like a great artist Jon Anderson paints a magic musical virtuosity that  take us into another world.
The album featured an exquisite sleeve with several pages illustrated by artist David Fairbrother Roe.
