Geweldige site waar lp-hoezen van toen in de omgeving van nu zijn geplaatst door Bob Egan.

New Yorker Bob Egan heeft de ultieme website gemaakt voor muziekfreaks die van weetjes houden en van plan zijn om een bezoekje te brengen aan New York. Bob omschrijft zichzelf als ‘pop culture detective’ en heeft het tot zijn missie gemaakt om de exacte locaties in zijn stad te achterhalen waar beroemde gebeurtenissen uit de popcultuur hebben plaatsgevonden. Zijn bevindingen verzamelt hij op zijn site Pop Spots.

Die gebeurtenissen kunnen van alles zijn, van de plek waar beroemde beelden van Bob Dylan zijn gefilmd tot en met het hotel waar een bekend liedjes is geschreven. Maar de meeste tijd is Bob bezig met het uitpluizen waar de foto's op iconische LP-hoezen gemaakt zijn. Als hij helemaal zeker weet dat hij de juiste plek te pakken heeft, gaat hij gewapend met een fototoestel op pad om de hoes van de LP in z'n 'natuurlijke omgeving' te fotograferen.
Bob heeft o.a. de locatie achterhaald van The Who's soundtrack van de docu The Kids Are Alright uit 1979, van meerdere Billie Joel-albums zijn een hoesfoto van Simon & Garfunkel is getraceerd. Je vindt alle achterhaalde locaties op Bobs site, inclusief de verhalen achter de zoektocht.
Bob heeft er nog veel meer in petto, van o.a. The Ramones, KISS en The Beastie Boys. Die foto's en locaties heeft hij alvast online gezet, de verhalen erbij volgen nog belooft Bob.

The Invisible Opera Company of Tibet (Daevid Allen)

The Invisible Opera Company of Tibet is de naam van een losse groep musici met als centrale figuur Daevid Allen. De Invisible Opera Company of Tibet is een idee, in de woorden van Daevid Allen van een netwerk van artiesten van alle kanten van de wereld, gericht op het ontwikkelen van een warme, stijl-overstijgende kunstvorm.

De eerste verschijning van The Invisible Opera Company of Tibet is in 1968, in een café in Parijs. Sinds die tijd hebben verschillende groepen van artiesten zich met die naam getooid. Ze werken samen, apart, en gebruiken hetzelfde materiaal. Artiesten kunnen van de ene groep naar de andere gaan. Op dit moment zijn er vier Invisible Opera Company of Tibet’s, in Australië, in Brazilië, in de Verenigde Staten en in Engeland. Ze hebben dezelfde naam en wisselen hun materiaal uit. Onder deze naam zijn in de tachtiger /negentiger jaren een aantal albums verschenen. De Engels versie van de Invisible Opera Company of Tibet omvat naast Allen Brian Abbott (gitaar / zang), Tim Hall (bas / zang), Steve Hickson (drums / zang) en Jim Peters (keyboard / dwarsfluit / zang). Hun eerste optreden was in september 1992 in Totnes, hun eerste album was Jewel In The Lotus.
